The Screaming Squirrels faced the undefeated Americans on Sunday night at Cabin John, falling 4-1. The Americans came into the game leading the entire DC area in shots, averaging 44 per game. The Squirrels defense was up to the challenge, only allowing 14, their second lowest total this season. Meanwhile the Squirrels put up 19 of their own shots, but ran into some stellar goaltending in the opposing net. The Americans hardly controlled the zone, but capitalized on their breaks and bounces while the Squirrels did not. Defenseman Don Marks scored the lone goal for the Squirrels, taking it into the zone himself to cut the score to 2-1 in the second period. The Squirrels now have more than two weeks off, and will return to the ice Dec. 7, 10:30 p.m. at Cabin John to face the Moose.
