The first game of the season for the Squirrels and Dinosaurs didn’t lack drama Tuesday, as the teams combined for 22 goals before a shootout, where the Squirrels prevailed.
And the Squirrels only got to the shootout with two goals in the final 48 seconds, one on the power play with the goalie pulled, and the tying goal with three seconds remaining. This was long after the Squirrels squandered a couple of three goal leads, allowing the Dinosaurs to score 6 of 7 goals during a second period stretch.
Charles Warner led the Squirrels with five goals, plus one in the shootout. Tyler Patty and Joseph Eck made their Squirrels debut. Stu Miller made both saves in the shootout as the Squirrels scored twice.
