The Squirrels lost to a shorthanded and relentless That’s What She Said team on Thursday, fielding a complete lineup but ultimately falling in a shootout, 7-6.
TWSS scored the first goal of the game shorthanded, but the Squirrels scored two of the next three on goals by Tyler Patty, Vivek Pinto on a one-timer, and Casey Carpenter.
After TWSS tied the game, 3-3 early in the second, the Squirrels scored two shothanded goals in 17 seconds by Arie Stock and Charles Warner, but TWSS still scored on the same power play.
The Squirrels had some bad luck after that as Patty and Carpenter separately got injured, though Carpenter returned. TWSS then scored twice to take a one-goal lead. The Squirrels tied it late as Stock scored his second of the game.
Stock and Carpenter scored in the shootout but TWSS scored three straight to win the game.
All teams have one game remaining until the playoffs. The Squirrels will likely have a first-round bye.
