Playing their first game in nearly two weeks, the Squirrels outplayed the Wheaton Caps for much of the game but the score was tied 1-1 for the majority of it. The Squirrels pulled away in the third period, however, for a 3-1 win.
The Wheaton Caps scored on the first shift when a player took it end-to-end, then he celebrated by sliding on the ice.
Mario Constantinou scored on the Squirrels’ first power play. The Squirrels nearly scored again before a Wheaton Caps player covered the puck in the crease, resulting in a missed penalty shot.
After a scoreless second period, which featured three Squirrels’ penalty kills, Rob Myers slammed home the go-ahead goal on the power play early in the third period. Constantinou scored his second of the game a few minutes later, and the Squirrels got their third win of the season.
