The Squirrels played fine, even took the lead in the third period, until the Whalers piled on five straight goals for a 7-3 win.
Arie Stock scored on a slap shot on a 5-on-3 power play in the first period. The Whalers scored the next two goals, taking a 2-1 lead into the third. Vivek Pinto and Stock then scored in the first 5:05 of the third to give the Squirrels the lead, but it was all Whalers after that.
