The game was a lot closer and more intense than the score ended up, as a 9-5 Squirrels win on Wednesday featured quite a bit of puck possession from Meltdown.
Tero Moberg scored the first two goals for the Squirrels, who led 4-2 after the first period.
Meltdown cut the Squirrels lead in the second period, but Dan Bartock kept the Squirrels ahead with a wrister from near the point.
Scott Kronzek scored early in the third to give the Squirrels a two-goal lead. Meltdown kept fighting, cutting the Squirrels lead back down to 6-5, but couldn’t get anything else through Craig Beatty down the stretch. The Squirrels would score three more times.
