Fortunately for the Squirrels, the game didn’t mean anything in the standings Monday, but the 7-3 loss to 2intheBox was frustrating nonetheless as they struggled to score, then gave up four goals – two shorthanded – in the third period.
Bob Valdes scored the first goal of the game, but 2intheBox scored the next three, and led 3-1 after two periods.
Mario Constantinou and Mike Bartock also scored in the third period.
The regular season has ended, with the Squirrels in first place. They’ll have a first-round bye in the playoffs.
