Outlaws 5, Squirrels 3

The Outlaws, a team of players between the ages of 18 and 25, faced off against a much older, slower Screaming Squirrels team on Saturday. While the Outlaws’ speed and shot total were apparent, the Squirrels’ experience kept them in the game, but not enough in a 5-3 Squirrels’ loss.

The Squirrels got the scoring started as Wade Marks entered the zone and dished off a pass to Bob Valdes, who spinned around and passed to Vivek Pinto who netted the first of the game. The Outlaws tied the game in the last minute of the first period.

In the second, the Squirrels missed on a penalty shot, took four penalties, but only gave up one goal, and trailed 2-1 after two periods.

In the third period, the Squirrels couldn’t stay out of the box, giving the Outlaws four more power plays, including a 5-on-3. Despite that, the Squirrels scored twice, as Tim Turk scored on a breakaway, and then again late in the game.
