As soon as Mario Constantinou scored the first goal of the shootout on Saturday, the Squirrels knew they would win the game, as Tim Stump remained perfect on his attempts and the Squirrels’ goalie made two of three saves to secure a 3-2 win against the Hockey Donkeys.
Dave Chung scored the first goal of the game in the first period, and Jason Wolf scored early in the second off of an off-the-glass rebound to give the Squirrels a 2-0 lead. The Squirrels yielded two goals, once in the second and another in the third. Despite stacking the line in the final minute, the Squirrels couldn’t get another goal, but prevailed in the shootout.
