The Squirrels nearly lost a four-goal lead Monday, but held on for a 5-4 win against the first-place Bullets.
Mike Bartock got the scoring started with a short-handed goal. Late in the period, Tero Moberg scored to give the Squirrels a 2-0 lead. In the second, Matt Wolf and Bartock scored quickly to put the Squirrels up 4-0, but the Bullets scored four of the next five goals, including two in the second period.
Up 4-3, Mario Constantinou gave the Squirrels an insurance goal more than midway through the period. The Bullets pulled within one goal and pressed hard down the stretch, but the Squirrels held on for the win.
Craig Beatty got the win in net for the Squirrels while Dave Tran played as a sub in net for the Bullets.
