The Squirrels are getting younger. The 5-3 win against the Bullets on Friday was led by 18-year-old Luke Chen’s goal and three assists, and Carson Klein’s two goals.
Luke Chung, the son of Dave ‘Killer’ Chung, scored the first goal of the game, five minutes in, before Klein gave the Squirrels a two-goal lead shortly after. But that was it for a while, as the Bullets scored on the power play in the second period to cut the Squirrels’ lead.
The third period didn’t start well for the Squirrels, as the Bullets scored twice in the first minute to take the lead, but it was all Squirrels after that.
Mario Constantinou scored in the power play, and then Klein scored on the power play shortly after as the Squirrels regained the lead. Mke Bartock gave the Squirrels an insurance goal with plenty of time remaining but the Bullets couldn’t get any closer, despite a couple of power plays, and a brief 5-on-3.
