The Squirrels dominated the Bronze 2b championship game Saturday, knocking out the top-seeded Wolfe Pack, 3-1.
The newest Squirrels scored the first two goals of the game, as Scott Kronzek struck in the first period, and Mike Bartock netted a power play goal in the second.
The game did get a bit ugly, as a Squirrels body checking penalty riled up Wolfe Pack, who responded with major frustration, including a racial slur (the player later apologized to the team).
Wolfe Pack scored a power play goal early in the third period to cut the lead to 2-1. In the final five minutes, Vivek Pinto gave the Squirrels an insurance goal.
It was the eighth Screaming Squirrels ice championship, and second in the summer.
