The Squirrels couldn’t keep the puck out of their own net Tuesday, falling 8-5 to the previously winless Cruisers.
And even then, the game started as if it would be an entirely different game, as Mario Constantinou scored on a relatively simple shot only nine seconds into the game.
The Cruisers scored the next two, including one on a power play. Vivek Pinto tied it for the Squirrels but the Cruisers scored again, taking a 3-2 lead into the second period.
The Cruisers then extended their lead to 4-2 early in the second. Constantinou scored another shortly after an offensive-zone faceoff, but the Cruisers then struck again.
Pinto and Scott Kronzek then scored quick goals late in the second to tie the game.
The Squirrels couldn’t score any more but the score remained tied well into the third, but three goals in the last five minutes gave the Cruisers the win.
The Cruisers, who will be staying in Bronze 2A while the Squirrels move up to Bronze 1 due to their apparently awesome 4-2 record, had one player who scored five goals.
