Roller: Squirrels 6, Jesters 5 (SO)

The Squirrels won a bizarre game against the Jesters on Thursday, taking a 5-1 first-period lead, losing it, then winning in a four-round shootout, 6-5, with one goal coming after Nicholas Baxley dragged and shoot the puck with the toe of his stick.

The Jesters scored the first goal of the game but Anthony Gragnano scored three times, Greg Hainer once and Tyler Ghent once in the first period.

The Squirrels really tried to keep the momentum up in the second period but mistakes cost them, and the Jesters chipped away to tie the game with several minutes left. Charles Warner nearly won the game for the Squirrels in the closing seconds as he took the puck the length of the rink, got a shot throw Jesters goalie Ed Owen, but not far enough through.

In the shootout, Baxley put the toe of his blade on the puck and carried it down, with the Squirrels all wondering what the hell he was doing. He then scored five-hole on Owen, who said he thought he was going to deke instead of shoot it straight.

Stu Miller made three of four saves, then Gragnano ended the game.
