The Squirrels got the new season started out right on Thursday, as a short bench defeated the Brewins, 4-2.
Mario Constantinou, playing defense, scored the first goal of the game. Though the Brewins tied it shortly after, Tero Moberg and Bob Valdes each scored to give the Squirrels a 3-1 lead going into the second period.
In typical Squirrels fashion, they took two overlapping penalties in the second, but killed them both. Brent Machado scored after that.
Though they only had three subs, the Squirrels didn’t lose their legs in the third period. One awkward bounce got through for the Brewins, but they couldn’t get any closer.
