The Squirrels won their second of the season on Sunday, going down 1-0 before scoring 5 straight for a 5-2 win.
Brent Machado, playing defense, scored the first two goals for the Squirrels, with the second coming from a beautiful backhand pass from Peter Gruhn. Bob Valdes scored in the second on a goal that went through a hole in the net, making it unclear for a moment if the puck had inexplicably not gone in. Machado got the hat trick not on a shot but a pass cross-ice that bounced strangely and went past the goalie who had shifted spots in anticipation of a successful pass.
Mario Constantinou, also playing defense, scored the fifth goal of the game. The Lagerheads scored late in the second but then the third period went scoreless.
