The Squirrels and Bullets played another close game Saturday, this time with the Bullets getting the better of the Squirrels in the shootout with a 5-4 win.
The teams traded two goals each in the first period, as Mike Bartock and Bob Valdes each scored for the Squirrels. But the Squirrels couldn’t get much going for another period and a half as the Bullets scored twice more to take a 4-2 lead.
The Squirrels, however, clawed back, as Mario Constantinou scored twice, including a deflection in the last couple of minutes off of Ben Avara’s backhand fling-shot from the point, to tie the game.
But the Squirrels couldn’t score in the shootout, and the Bullets scored once, which was enough for their win.
