The Squirrels lost to the Outsiders on Thursday, 6-3, in a back-and-forth game that was closer than the final score indicates.
The Squirrels started off strong, taking a 2-0 lead into the first intermission with goals from Scott Kronzek and Vivek Pinto. The Outsiders evened up the score with two goals in the first five minutes of the second period, but Brent Machado took the lead back with a short handed goal off the rebound of a breakaway chance from Mike Bartock. The Outsiders came right back with their third goal to go into the third period with a 3-3 tie.
The tie game held through most of the third, but the Outsiders pulled ahead. The Squirrels had many good chances, but the Outsiders scored on fluke of a goal to go up by two goals with just over two minutes to go. The Outsiders added an empty netter to win by three.
