With the second half of the season underway, and finally more than only three other teams to play, the Squirrels faced off against the Thundercats on Saturday in a very competitive game.
The Thundercats took a quick lead, but Vivek Pinto answered shortly after early in the first period. The Thundercats then retook the lead into the second period.
In the second, Don Marks took a slap shot and tied the game, but later in the period the Thundercats again retook the lead, only for Mike Bartock to tie it again on the next shift.
With the score tied 3-3 in the third, the Squirrels took a couple of penalties and had to kill a prolonged 5-on-3 situation which could have been trouble. But after killing it, Bartock scored again from a pass from Pinto, and then vice versa five minutes later. With the Thundercats down two, the Squirrels didn’t let go of their grip as Brent Machado scored on a pass from Bob Valdes to close out the 6-3 win.
