Squirrels 4, Thundercats 2

The Squirrels got a much-needed victory Sunday to close out the season, beating the first-place Thundercats 4-2.

Vivek Pinto opened the scoring in the second period, but the Squirrels gave up a power play goal shortly after. In less than 30 seconds, Brent Machado and Mario Constantinou scored to put the Squirrels up 3-1 going into the third period.

Pinto scored to open the final period, but the Thundercats pulled within two shortly after and had their chances to close the gap. But the Squirrels shut them down defensively, even getting a handful of chances down the stretch, to win the final game of the regular season.

Playoff start August 23.
