The Squirrels dug themselves into an early hole Thursday, and though they made it interesting down the stretch, they fell to the Wolfe Pack, 8-5.
Down 1-0 on the first shift of the game and 2-0 11 minutes in, Geoff Grek got the Squirrels on the board, but they yielded another goal and were down 3-1 after the first period.
Tony Richelsen cut the lead to 3-2, but the Squirrels gave up two more, and were down 5-2 going into the third period.
Bob Valdes scored on a layup about halfway through the third period. Wolfe Pack scored twice more, but then Richelsen and Mario Constantinou trimmed the lead to 7-5. The Squirrels pulled their goalie, but gave up an empty netter.
