The Squirrels lost to the Thundercats, 8-4 on Saturday.
The first period was tight, with the Thundercats taking a 1-0 lead off of a faceoff where the Squirrels misplayed a behind-the-net clearing attempt and instead delivered an own-goal.
The Thundercats took a 2-0 lead early in the second, Shortly after, Craig Beatty, who normally plays goalie but was playing forward, redirected a shot into the net to score his first goal for the Squirrels. Mario Constantinou tied the game with a one-timer on a pass from Tony Richelsen.
The Thundercats broke the game open after that, scoring four of the next five goals. Geoff Grek got one back for the Squirrels when he dumped the puck from the blue line at the Thundercats goalie, who let it in. Tony Richelsen scored a similar goal in the third period.
The game had some fireworks in the third period when a Thundercats player got injured and another retaliated.
