The Squirrels held a 1-0 lead through a good portion of the game Monday, but had to claw back to win in a shootout, 5-4, against the Wolfe Pack.
Jason Wolf (no relation to the Wolfe Pack) roofed a shot midway through the first period to give the Squirrels the lead. Little else happened until the third period.
The the Wolfe Pack scored three times in the first 4:22 of the period, taking a 3-1 lead with about ten minutes remaining in the game. Though Ben Sumner scored to cut the score to 3-2, the Wolfe Pack got it right back.
Mike Bartock made the score 4-3, and with a couple of minutes remaining, Scott Kronzek tied the game.
In the shootout, Craig Beatty made the first two saves while Bartock and Tim Stump each scored to get the Squirrels the win.
While the Squirrels remain in last place in the division, the victory meant the Squirrels have beaten every team at least once.
