With only two subs and one player with rental skates, the Squirrels put up a fight Saturday, but came up short in a 5-3 loss to the Bullets.
The Squirrels even took a 2-1 lead in the first period, briefly, though with only two subs and one regular defenseman playing, the lines and line changes were inconsistent. Tony Richelsen and Bob Valdes each scored, and Pat Reilly scored in the second period to tie the game at 3-3. But the Bullets scored the next two goals and the Squirrels couldn’t get any closer.
