The Squirrels faced off against the first-place Bullets on Saturday, clamped down and won, 3-1.
It wasn’t easy, though. Ten minutes into the first period, Don Marks made a couple of crafty moves and backhanded a shot in to give the Squirrels a 1-0 lead. The Bullets’ goalie, however, wasn’t letting much by him. There wouldn’t be another goal until the end of the second period when the Bullets capitalized off of a couple of bad bounces and tied the game at 1-1.
The Squirrels floundered on a few power plays, but with six minutes remaining, Tero Moberg cleaned up a rebound and gave the Squirrels a 2-1 lead. Mike Bartock scored a couple of minutes later to put the Squirrels up 3-1 and give them some insurance.
It was the fourth win in a row for the Squirrels.
