This is general news about a teammate.
Kaleigh Richelsen Born
Kaleigh Marie Richelsen was born at 1:13 on May 24. She is 7 lbs, 3 oz. and 19.5 inches long. Tricia is said to be doing fine. No word yet on how Desi is, however, but we’re assuming his daughter has already made him forget about his recent appendectomy.
Congratulations to new mom and dad Tricia and Desi, and new aunt and uncle Tony and Steph!
Borlik Leaves Team, On Top
Longtime Squirrel Matt Borlik announced after the team’s 8-0 championship victory Sunday that he’ll be moving to Philadelphia within the next few weeks. Though we’ll expect to see him every once in a while when he comes down to visit, this marks the end of a tenure that’s lasted since 2002, when he nearly got into a fist fight with the then-team captain during a pick-up game soon before we recruited him as a backup goaltender.
Borlik was instrumental in two roller championships and two ice championships during his time with the Squirrels. We all had plenty of memories of him, from the punk clothing he’d wear into the locker room, the porn-star mustache, the broken doors, the rides from D.C. (the list goes on and on), but the best memories aren’t appropriate for publication.
We’ll miss ya, #98 (before he changed his number!)
Photo of the Week
Squirrels ice hoodlum, #8 Mike Bronson, with his girlfriend, Jane.
And just to be fair, here’s a much nicer photo (of Jane, of course):
Long, Bronson Ditching Squirrels
Clearly scared of playing hockey any longer, longtime ice and roller Squirrel Chris Long, and ice capade goon Mike Bronson are each moving out of the area. Long is off to New York, and Bronson is off to Chicago.
While they will be missed, they will still be around for a few more games and a going away party is in the works.
